Quebec Region cleans up the courts

By Kristin Wood

When it comes to CF racket sports, the Quebec Region has the rest of the country beat. The Quebec Region team cleaned the courts at the 2006 CF National Badminton and Squash Championships, claiming both National Badminton and Squash Championship Team titles.

The CF National Badminton and Squash Championship games ran from May 6-11 at CFB Borden. In addition to the Quebec Region's two team victories, its individual and doubles team members were victorious in eight of the 13 categories.

Overall, Quebec earned 132 points during the five-day championship. Ontario followed in second place at 100 points. "No one.aspect of the CF National Badminton and Squash Championships can be put in the spotlight this year, as all stood out and deserve recognition," says Mike Doucet, national sports co-ordinator at the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA).

We were grateful to have had squash co-officials Bob Fuller and Paul Poirier, Badminton official Paul Best, and technical advisor/official Keith Miller run such well-managed tournaments, says Mr. Doucet. "A gold star goes to the Athletic Trainers Lieutenant(N) Dufton and Corporal Antle for their hard work and dedication to the athletes."

CFPSA oversees the CF National Sports Program, including 13 national championships each year.
