2006 DND Photography Contest

Photos capture.aspects of military life difficult to describe with words. Mental toughness, teamwork, and endurance are some of the qualities that make our community unique. So too are isolated postings, deployments, CADPAT, airplanes, tanks, and ships!

Well, it's that time of the year again. Time to describe your community through the annual DND Photography Contest. The Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre and the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency, under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of National Defence, encourage the creation of imagery to illustrate the many facets of life in the military. It also aims to recognize members of the community who have attained a level of excellence in the art of photography.

The contest is open to all members of DND/CF, including families. It has been run since 1968 and was originally part of an arts and crafts competition sponsored by Physical Education and Recreation personnel. The early contest was organized and run by CFB Uplands PERI staff and the winning entries were displayed at the Air Movements Unit. Due to lack of interest most of the competition was discontinued in 1972. Only the photography part remained.

Outstanding accomplishments are recognized through prizes donated by Hewlett-Packard (HP),NIKON, AMPLIS FOTO, DYNAMIX, and VALCOM.

The Canadian Forces Joint Imagery Centre and the CF Personnel Support Agency invite you to submit your photos from August 1st to October 1st, 2006.

Judging will occur at the Joint Imagery Centre in Ottawa on October 12 and 13, 2006.
