From meeting new people from all over the world, to learning about new cultures and traditions, and discovering some new things about yourself that you never knew before, you will never regret it.
- Heather, ON
. I know that we have accomplished our mission when our soldiers stop me to say 'Thank you for taking the risk to work in Afghanistan. You and your co-workers add a bit of normalcy into our lives.'
- Robin, SK The other hard thing is the ramp ceremonies. You hope there won't be any, but our young men and women are fighting a war out there and we all know the risks.
- Karl, AB As my 6-months living within the context of war winds to an end, there are moments I have lived through that I am sure I will not fully appreciate for years to come. To live in the present moment of the making of history has provided unique perspectives on the somewhat ordinary.
- Joey, ON It was a great tour I have made over 2,500 new friends!
- Wendy, NFLD & Labrador
Every night we sit out front of our tents and chat and have a laugh or two. Everyday is different and very busy.
I am sending a lot of stuff back home cause I have too much and only a little tiny room. What should someone expect when they arrive here? We are in the middle of the desert, surrounded by war so everything we have here is a "good thing". - Brenda, MB It gave me a much clearer insight into what CFPSA does for the soldier in an operational context rather than the limited PSP operations I work within back in Canada, definitely a rewarding experience. "Serving Those Who Serve" is the most exhilarating life experience one person can ever capture in a lifetime. When you are showering (everyday if you want) you have to keep in mind one thing COMBAT SHOWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turn water on, get wet, turn water off, shampoo in hair, soap on body, turn water on, rinse off, water off... DONE. Your shower will take less than 5 minutes. The one thing I haven't gotten used to - having dirty hands. My finger nails are always dirty. The only place you can really wash your hands is in the eating mess or in the showers....other than that it is hand sanitizer all the way. To have a little bit better appreciation of who Judi Christopherson is, I'll let you know that my idea of camping is a 3 or 4 star hotel. I almost never stay at Motels, because I find them below my standard of what I like to see in terms of amenities. Now, I find myself camping for 6 months straight at a dirty Motel 5... and I love it !
