DND Photography Contest Goes Digital!
To everyone with a digital camera: The DND Photography Contest wants you! For the first time in 40 years, the DND Photography Contest will only accept images in digital format; making it extremely simple to participate.
By “everyone,” the organizers really do mean everyone in the Defence community. If you are reading this article, hit the scroll button on your digital camera and check out your photos, as chances are you could participate.

The DND photo contest is open to current members of the DND/CF and their families, retired members of the DND/CF as well as NPF employees. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a casual picture snapper; the contest has a place for you. Divided into professional and amateur categories, the event is known for its integrity among photography professionals while being inviting to amateurs and first-timers. Allowing for variety in participation, photos can be submitted in eight categories: military life, family life, sport, environment, animals, portrait, special effects and open.
Over $20,000 in prizes are awarded between both professional and amateur Photographer of the Year, Best in Show and the Deputy Minister’s Award. Many prizes are also drawn among the remaining participants. The amateur and professional Photographers of the Year will be invited, with travel expenses paid, to the Awards Luncheon at NDHQ this November.
