Director Military Family Services Christmas Message
It’s hard to believe another year has gone by, yet here we are – another holiday season is upon us, and 2009 will soon come to a close.
This has been a hectic, important year for all who work in military family services. We have been challenged by a high operational tempo, and have worked hard to support families through deployments, postings and the everyday challenges of military family life. All the while, we have also laid the groundwork to transform the Military Family Services Program, beginning with the CF Family Summit II in January and continuing through the wrap-up of the Pilot Projects in December 2009.
The steps we’ve taken this year have been exciting, challenging ones that have set the stage to begin launching our enhanced family program next spring. Throughout 2009, all of us at DMFS have been consistently impressed with the ways in which Canadian/Military Family Resource Centres have stepped up to support families by developing new programs, forming new partnerships, and opening yourselves up to change. My special kudos goes out to the centres that have tried out www.FamilyForce.ca, and tested proposed Military Family Services Program enhancements through our Pilot Projects and Project Fund. The energy and enthusiasm you’ve brought to these new projects has been nothing short of inspiring.
So now that the holidays are here, I hope you take the time to reflect on all the good you’ve accomplished for the military families you serve. Congratulate yourselves and your coworkers for a job well done, and be sure to practice the balanced lifestyle we preach – rest, relax, and spend lots of time with families and friends.
From all of us at Director Military Family Services, we wish you a Merry Christmas and we look forward to working with you in 2010.
Warm regards,
Celine Thompson
