Financian Scam may be Targeting Families of Deployed Soldiers

We have been advised that there maybe a financial scam targeting the families of deployed soldiers. After deployment, relatives may get a message over some chat service that the soldier needs money. When families query the request, they are told to just to do it. When families check with the soldier, it turns out the soldier never sent the messages, and that someone may have gotten into e mail accounts and changed passwords. It appears this was a scam that targeted servicemen and women on deployed operations.

This case will be investigated. Any deploying soldiers should be advised to be vigilant and you are requested to report any other cases like this that you become aware of. We will keep you updated.
