Pilot Project Updates
National Employment Awareness Template
For its pilot project, the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) has developed web content for the National Employment Awareness Template. By working in consultation with other employment service providers, the MFRC has created an on-line catalogue full of useful information on a variety of topics such as job search strategies, entrepreneurship, career resources, navigating Employment Insurance, employer resources, and accessing Canadian Forces (CF) compensation and benefits.
The Halifax & Region MFRC has now submitted their draft to Director Military Family Services (DMFS). DMFS is reviewing the content, and designing the web components of the template to fit with the new military families’ web portal, www.FamilyForce.ca.
Virtual Job Search
Working in consultation with a variety of employment service providers, the Trenton MFRC has developed a comprehensive Virtual Job Search framework. This pilot project will complement the National Employment Awareness Template by offering a practical, hands-on job search tool for CF family members. Job seekers will be able to conduct an advanced search based on targeted criteria, such as: location, employment field, education requirements, experience requirements, language requirements, employment status (full-time, part-time, casual, etc.), and student or youth postings.
The Trenton MFRC has now submitted their draft of the Virtual Job Search to DMFS for review.
DMFS is working to unite the Halifax & Region and Trenton projects to create one centralized employment resource to be part of www.FamilyForce.ca. The end products will be included in DMFS’ comprehensive analysis of the proposed enhancements for the Military Family Services Program. Those projects that are selected to proceed will then be proposed for endorsement by Chief Military Personnel.
