Lynne Major Cléroux
Project Coordinator – Deployment
Lynne was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. In June of 1986 she graduated from Cambrian College in the bilingual Early Childhood Education program. Lynne joins the DMFS team as Project Coordinator for the Deployment portfolio.
Shortly after graduating from college, Lynne relocated to Toronto and worked several years in a daycare centre as Educator and Director. Lynne was able to teach, supervise staff and maintain a quality program for all participants involved.
In 1995 she joined the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) of the National Capital Region. Lynne worked with the MFRC for 14 years in several areas, including emergency and standard child care, as well as deployment and reunion. In these positions she was able to create new programs, offer services, do outreach with other agencies in the community and work with volunteers. Most importantly, she was able to work alongside military families.
Having worked in the military community, and now being employed with DMFS, Lynne has committed herself to working closely with all her colleagues in developing excellent programs in order to meet the needs of our growing military community.
Jen Dalziel
Military Family Services Information Coordinator
Jen was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English and a minor in Journalism from the University of King’s College in Halifax. After a lifetime on the east coast, in 2007 she relocated to Ottawa to pursue her Master of Arts degree in English at Carleton University.
Jen had a wonderful but hectic year of study, and completed her MA in August 2008. A reader and writer by nature, Jen began her work with DMFS in October on a temporary contract as an Editorial Assistant. She was responsible for researching, conducting interviews and writing about military family services for this website. Upon completing her temporary contract, Jen was delighted to accept the opportunity to stay with the DMFS team as the Military Family Services Information Coordinator.
Though Jen is still new to the world of military family support, she has enjoyed her time with DMFS immensely. After years of writing long academic papers, she is thrilled with the new challenge of spreading the word about interesting, necessary projects, and sharing the stories of families whose strength and resilience is nothing short of remarkable. She feels energized by the opportunity to write about something she believes in, and hopes to bring a unique voice to military family services.
Jaimi Gardner
Project Coordinator – Mental Health
Jaimi Gardner was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area. She joins DMFS as the Project Coordinator for the Mental Health portfolio on the Program and Policy Development team.
Jaimi attended the University of Western Ontario, where she completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. She spent the third year of the program studying abroad in Mexico at El Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. After finishing her program, Jaimi obtained a Canadian International Development Agency-sponsored international internship as a Capacity Builder with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) World Accord and Mujeres en Accion (Women in Action), in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
After completing her work in Guatemala, Jaimi continued her education by pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Political Science. Jaimi specialized in Security Studies with a focus on the Middle East. In addition to her academic work in the field, she has also worked for a variety of NGOs in peace education, conflict resolution and international development.
Jaimi moved to Ottawa in September and is excited to work with DMFS. She hopes to contribute to and expand upon the programs and policies in place to help military families. Jaimi is also excited to learn from her colleagues and courageous CF personnel and families. Jaimi has familiar ties to CF through her great uncle, former Regimental Sergeant Major Sam Cohen.
