Chief of Military Personnel Holiday Message 2008
As we enter the festive season, Chief Warrant Officer Labrie and I extend our best wishes and sincere appreciation to everyone in Military Personnel Command, uniformed and civilian, for your hard work, professionalism, and dedication over the past year. We also extend our best wishes to your families, whose support has been indispensable to our achievements.
As a direct result of your vital work across the Personnel Management spectrum, Military Personnel Command has achieved some significant milestones that will benefit soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen across the Forces, and for years to come. The Care of the Ill and Injured Program is being developed and will be introduced shortly; the first Family Summit was held, leading to a plan to strengthen our support to military families, beginning with the introduction of the Family Covenant; and finally, streamlining our Honours and Recognition processes to ensure that awards are presented at the same pace that our servicemen and servicewomen are earning them at home and abroad. In addition to these important achievements, we continued to excel in our core duties of conducting Canadian Forces Personnel Management, which are recruiting, training, preparing, supporting and taking care of our people and their families, in Canada and on deployment.
Having achieved so much over the past twelve months, it is time to take the opportunity to take care of yourself and focus on your families, a time to leave your tasks at work and to relax, unwind, and recharge. Turn your attention to a hobby, travel, visiting with friends, and most of all, enjoying yourself at whatever you choose to do. If there is one thing we must do over the holidays, it is to take the time to remember our colleagues, men and women, civilian and military alike, who are spending this holiday season proudly and professionally serving our country in many far reaches of the world, and most importantly, our comrades and friends who died over the past year while in service to this great nation.
Chief Warrant Officer Labrie and I are proud of your achievements and proud to be your Command Team. All our best to you and your families. May you have a safe, happy and prosperous 2009 – which is, after all, intended to be the Year of the Military Family.
W. Semianiw
Major-General
