Chief Military Personnel Holiday Message 2009

As a very successful 2009 draws to a close and we enter the holiday season, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Labrie and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best. Although Military Personnel Command (MILPERSCOM) has achieved a great deal since December 2008, and has been subject to a number of key personnel changes, they are not the focus of our holiday note this year.

Chief Military Personnel CrestRather, we ask that each of you reflect on your own individual and collective achievements over the past year, as we have no doubt there were many. It may have been a promotion, completing a career course, or toughing out separation from family for anything from a posting to an international deployment. Your achievements may well have been entirely personal, such as achieving a particular goal related to your health and fitness, achieving a financial milestone, or completing an academic or artistic pursuit. Some of the highlights over the past year may have happened at work, such seeing a project through to completion, proposing and implementing new initiatives, or simply mastering your new job following a move.

We ask that you reflect on your achievements, because without your efforts and your individual successes, the goals achieved collectively by MILPERSCOM could not have been attained. Once again your efforts have helped us continue to excel in our core duty of conducting Canadian Forces Personnel Management: recruiting, training, preparing, supporting and taking care of our people and their families, in Canada and on deployment.

Having achieved so much, you have earned the right to be as proud of yourselves as CWO Labrie and I are proud of all of you – civilian and military, regular and reserve. So, as we enter the holiday season, we wish you all the best in your holiday pursuits. We hope you will all take the time to relax, spend time connecting with family and friends, and above all enjoy yourself. We look forward to the coming year and continued success in supporting Canadian Forces sailors, soldiers, airmen and airwomen, and their families.
