About Canadian/Military Family Resource Centres
For more than 20 years, Canadian/Military Family Resource Centres (C/MFRCs) have been a hub of activity, providing military families with services that help them tackle the challenges of their unique lifestyle. From second language training to deployment support to employment counselling, meeting the evolving needs of military families is what C/MFRCs are all about.
Director Military Family Services funds and oversees C/MFRCs to provide the mandated services of the Military Family Services Program, which are designed to strengthen the resilience of CF families. In general terms, the services available at C/MFRCs fall into four categories:
- Child & Youth Development and Parenting Support;
- Prevention, Support & Intervention;
- Personal Development and Community Integration;
- Family Separation and Reunion.
C/MFRCs are located on Canadian Forces bases across the country and around the world. There are currently 32 C/MFRCs across Canada, five in the United States and six overseas. These resource centres also provide outreach and remote services to outlying communities to ensure that CF families can receive support no matter where they may reside.
C/MFRCs are committed to enriching the lives of family members through positive action, education and support. C/MFRCs also encourage and facilitate the voluntary participation of CF families in all facets of their operations – from program planning and delivery to organization governance and leadership.
By providing funding to C/MFRCs, the federal government and the CF recognize the important contributions of military families, as well as the sacrifices that the military lifestyle often demands of families.
