THE CFPSA TRAINING CENTRE: YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Primary Methods of Teaching:
  • BFTA/AFTA: Instructors use a balance of lectures, discussion, demonstrations, tours, and practical exercises such as the obstacle course, orienteering events, and others to teach the necessary skills and knowledge required for fitness training assistants.

  • RAL: Instructors facilitate more than lectures in this interactive course, with students working primarily in group settings. The course schedule is subject to change depending on where the course is offered, as interest in some subjects varies due to location. Because students do not wear uniforms, rank will not enter into group dynamics.

  • UFSO: Instructors vary their teaching methods to create a balance of formal classroom lectures, participatory/practical exercises, and discussions.

  • Hockey Officials: Instructors train both in the classroom and on the ice, optimizing game situations as teaching tools by incorporating videos, practical exercises, and discussions.

User-Pay Option: The CFPSA Training Centre annual training plan contains a preliminary schedule of serials.

If your unit needs training at a time when a course is not scheduled, the user-pay option makes it possible to send instructors to your location to deliver training. To customize the start date of a CFPSA Training Centre course for your location, please contact the Information Coordinator at Johnson.MES@forces.gc.ca or (705)424-1200 ext. 3127.
