The Ottawa Emergency Travel Centre (ETC) provides travellers with the following types of emergency services:
- URGENT after hours bookings for commercial flights, cars, hotels, and rail (a Travel Authorization Number (TAN) will be required);
- Prepaid airline tickets;
- Ticket replacement for missing tickets (prepaid or e-ticket);
- Special services for car and hotel check-ins;
- Arrangements for rental cars if the airport outlet is closed upon the traveller's arrival;
- URGENT changes to travel plans, while in transit.
For travellers who are enroute the following services are also provided:
- Assistance with lost baggage claims
- Assistance with insurance claims
- Lost ticket redemption
- Assistance with lost or stolen Amex traveller's cheques or credit cards
- Location of out-of-country Amex offices
- Location of nearest embassy or counsulate
- Nearest location of Amex Consumer Travel Office open for ticket issuance
- Flight re-confirmation
- Urgent customer complaints
- Flight information
ETC Service is available after normal working hours and on weekends or holidays. This service may be used for URGENT travel requirements only. URGENT is defined as unplanned travel that must be initiated during silent hours or for travelers stranded enroute. Callers who do not meet these criteria will be advised to contact the CFPSA Travel Coordinators during working hours.
Booking Procedures (TANs)
- While Enroute: Travellers who are enroute and wish to change the origin or destination of an existing file require a new TAN;
- No-Shows: A TAN will never be reused for a file that is no longer active, eg passenger no-showed or Unit to failed to cancel booking;
- Travellers who have missed a flight for reasons that are not the fault of the airline, or have failed to cancel, must provide the ETC with a new TAN;
- Charges for the emergency travel will be charged to the unit's TAN. The Unit will be advised by fax of the full details of the transaction.
