Performers to visit HMCS Calgary

NNR 08.01.004

July 28, 2008

A Canadian Forces Show Tour heads to the high seas in South-West Asia at the end of July to entertain the deployed crew members of HMCS Calgary. The high-energy Show Tour is being coordinated by the Personnel Support Programs Division of Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS).

After many months of deployment, Canadian Forces members will receive a welcome relief and taste of home with this show tour. Produced by Destination Funny Entertainment Inc., it includes comedy, pop, country, R&B, and rock performances by a range of Show Tour veterans. Comedian Kenny Shaw will act as host, while the headliner will be Donna Huber as Shania Twin. The performance will also include pop artists and sisters Carmen and Camille, Rhythm and Blues artist Taylor James, who will entertain in English and French, and Rocker Shaun Verreault, who is also lead singer for Wide Mouth Mason. In support will be the Show Tour Band comprised of Stephanie Cadman, Allison Granger, Lee Worden, Chris Meister, and musical director Mike Norman.

The Show Tour program is organized by CFPFSS, the morale and welfare arm of the Canadian Forces (CF). CFPFSS provides Show Tours to CF members serving overseas, aboard ships and in isolated locations. Over the course of any six-month major mission, a CF Show Tour is usually held at the mid-point to provide a taste of Canadian culture and entertainment to deployed members.
