General Hillier to announce Military Families Fund Gala

Calgary, AB – General Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff, will be available to members of the media to discuss the Military Families Fund and announce the Military Families Fund Gala to be held in Calgary in June.
The Military Families Fund is an agile and responsive fund that assists military families faced with unforeseen and immediate needs resulting from conditions of service. The Military Families Fund provides assistance for a range of support services and allows for flexibility in unique circumstances to help military families when they need it most. The fund augments and enables existing publicly and non-publicly funded programs.
Since April 2007, over two hundred thousand dollars has been dispersed to assist over eighty military families with situations not covered by existing programs.
