Conference To Focus On Ideas For Healthy Living

This November, experts from across North America will gather in the National Capital Region to discuss the latest advances and ideas for healthy living.

The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) 2005 conference, entitled
Ideas to Action: Healthy Living in Canada, will explore the latest in research discoveries on the benefits of physical activity for people living with diseases like diabetes and obesity. Conference organizers expect a wide range of people to attend including researchers, physicians, nurses, dieticians, and psychologists.

The conference will feature discussions on such topics as: physical activity for the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, promoting physical activity through behavioural change, and strategies for combating obesity. A number of internationally- recognized keynote speakers will also present on the latest advances, including:

  • Andrew Pipe, M.D. - University of Ottawa Heart Institute
  • Diane Finegood, PhD - CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes
  • Peter T. Katzmarzyk, PhD - Canadian Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management and Prevention of Obesity
  • Ronald J. Sigal, M.D. - Exercise and Diabetes
  • Roanne Sega, M.D. - The Role of Exercise in Cancer Care
