Holiday Entertainment for Canadian Troops Away from Home

OTTAWA, ON - Imagine heading thousands of miles away from home during the holiday season. The Canadian Forces (CF) Show Tours, featuring a group of Canadian performers, visit a remote base in Alert from December 13 th to 17 th and the Middle East from December 7 th to 17 th . Show Tours to isolated areas and deployed operations are a part of the morale and welfare programs organized by the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency.

Produced by BK Promotions & Paige Productions, both Show Tours emphasize a variety of rock, country, pop, dance and comedy.

Featuring The Wilkinsons, the Northern CF Show Tour is in Alert for five days. Jean-Pierre Guerard, CFPSA Show Tour Coordinator says, "(The Wilkinsons) are the hottest thing on the market right now."

The Wilkinsons are joined in Alert by The Men Without Shame, an oldies rock trio; and step dancer and fiddler, Kelly Trottier. The master of ceremonies and comedian is Erica Sigurdsen with Daniel Coutu acting as the show's magician.

In the Middle East is Theresa Sokyrka from Canadian Idol, along with rock and roll princess, Sue Medley; Canadian french folk duo Polly Esther; step dancer and fiddle player Stephanie Cadman and country/pop singer Stephanie Thomson. Also to round out the Middle East lineup is Comedian Jennifer Grant and Tina Turner Impersonator, Samira.

CFPSA has a long tradition of providing shows tours to CF members serving overseas and in isolated locations. Over the course of a six-month rotation, a CF Show Tour plays an important part in major operations and is always a big morale booster, bringing a small piece of Canada to deployed military personnel.
