Three Show Tours Entertain Deployed Canadian Forces

NR 08.010

November 19, 2008

Ottawa (ON) – Five enthusiastic and talented Canadian entertainers are traveling to Afghanistan at the end of November to entertain deployed Canadian Forces members. This CF Show Tour comes on the heels of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) and the Ville de Quebec Show Tours held earlier in November.

Produced by Atlantica Centre for the Arts Inc., the Task Force Afghanistan Show Tour promises to include something for everyone: country, blues, pop rock and more. Comedian Johnny Guardhouse will play the role of host throughout the performance and the show will feature American Music Award Winner and JUNO Award Winner Alfie Zappacosta, country singer Dave Moffatt, blues singer Carson Downey, and the multi-talented artist Jolene Keats.

The Show Tour program is organized by the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS), the morale and welfare arm of the Canadian Forces (CF). CFPFSS provides Show Tours to CF members serving overseas, aboard ships and in isolated locations. Over the course of any six-month major mission, a CF Show Tour is usually held at the mid-point to provide a taste of Canadian culture and entertainment to deployed members.
