Certificate of Merit Recipient – Paula Wheeler, Financial Counsellor, CFB Greenwood

Paula Wheeler was recently announced as the 2005 SISIP Financial Services divisional recipient of the Certificate of Merit. Employed with SISIP Financial Services (SISIP FS) since 1999, Paula is highly respected within the CFB Greenwood community. She has consistently received recognition from the community for her activities as a Wing Community Volunteer. She also never hesitates to take on additional tasks that may be outside of her scope of responsibilities, especially when it comes to the well-being and financial welfare of the Canadian Forces members whom she serves.

In the words of one of her clients: “Not only did you carry out your job with professionalism, you also had compassion and understanding, rare qualities we had not expected. It is not possible to explain what your help has meant to us. It has affected, for the better, every part of our lives, from work to our children.”

Significantly contributing to the achievement of the mission, goals and objectives of both the CFPSA and SISIP Financial Services (SISIP FS), it was recently announced that Nicholas Aghajanian, Mike Gingras, Marc Morin, Chris Pauzé, Eric Savard, and Kim Steggall from the Operations (Ops) team at SISIP FS, were the 2005 CFPSA - CEO Award of Exceptional Merit recipients.

SISIP FS introduced a new records management system in Ops in 2001, in order to be able to archive all of the insurance applications dating back to December 1969. Since the introduction of the new system, Ops reduced the average wait time for client inquiries from up to three days, to almost immediate.

Not only did they have to archive almost 165,000 applications, they also had to change the identification of all files from Social Insurance numbers to a Military Service numbers. Throughout the four years, Mike and his team were able to maintain a high level of customer service to clients and colleagues at SISIP FS, and Manulife Financial.

A formal presentation by Major-General Langton is scheduled to take place in the near future.
