On Sept. 10, the sun shone down brightly at Saint-Jean Garrison and families attended the first-ever Back-to-School Celebration, an event that brought together military and civilian employees of the 5th Area Support Group. Hangar HD4, the hub of festivities, housed a dozen PSP Sports and Recreation clubs and 20 organizations who provide services to the community.

All day long, a shuttle bus crisscrossed roads of the garrison, taking visitors to various open house events. Visitors had an opportunity to discover the MFRC, Teens Lounge and Ceramics Club. The Cabinet Making Club, along with the O’Mille Ballons Early Childhood Education Centre, extended warm welcomes to the visitors. The more fearless tried mountain climbing as they toured the athletic facilities. At the end of the day, Col Gerry Champagne, 5 ASG Commanding Officer, began drawing names of door prize winners. Thanks to the generosity of numerous sponsors, many people left the Back-to-School Celebration quite happy!
