Walk the Line: 17 Wing's First Safety Exhibition

On June 3, 2006 Health Promotion (HP) participated in the first 17 Wing Safety Exhibition. The exhibition was an excellent opportunity for us to display our involvement in the Health and Safety field. The event was open to all, including military personnel, NPF/DND civilian employees and the general public.
The HP booth focused on Low Risk Drinking Guidelines and Stress Management. A variety of information, handouts, and interactive activities were included. Approximately a hundred people stopped by, a few took stress calendars, but the fatal vision goggles stole the show.
Many spectators were challenged to walk the line, including WAdminO LCol Conway, and they were up for the challenge! Participants who tried the fatal vision goggles were surprised at how disoriented they were by just putting them on, never mind walking the line! It was a great eye-opener.
Health Promotion's goal in attending the Safety Exhibition was to increase awareness around alcohol consumption and abuse - our goal was accomplished! The Health Promotion team would like to thank everyone who stopped by and we hope to see you next time.
