Hockey Night in Canada - "Support our Troops" on Coach's Corner

Congratulations to CANEX Category Manager Lisa Nudleman and CFPSA HQ staff for a brilliant initiative!

Our reaction when Don Cherry held up an American "We Support our Troops" hat on Coach's Corner during Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals was quick and passionate. Ensuing office banter resulted in Lisa calling Hockey Night in Canada to let them know the CF has its own "Support our Troops" merchandise.

The next day, she coordinated with CFPSA colleagues to have "Support our Troops" products and speaking points sent to Don Cherry for his use the following evening.

Don Cherry not only promoted the items on his show during Game 6 of the Finals, he did so again for Game 7! He wore a "Support our Troops" hat during Coach's Corner, displayed www.cfpsa.com/canex on-screen to encourage viewers to order their own merchandise, and ordered 10 hats for himself!

The public support was overwhelming. Thanks to a great team effort and Cherry's commitment to our troops, in just five days CANEX received over 4,000 online orders for "Support our Troops" products. Proceeds go to morale and welfare programs for the CF community.

Who, other than Don Cherry could generate such a reaction!? And during the Stanley Cup Final!
