Jacynthe de Saint-Hilaire Hockey Hall of Famer and Vice President of Rebellion Hockey, Bryan Trottier, was the guest speaker at the fifth annual Canadian Forces Halifax Sports Recognition Awards Breakfast May 26. "You guys are Canada's best-kept secret. The stuff you do around the world is amazing. We think we are ambassadors because we play hockey, you guys really are the ambassadors of Canada," said the seven-time Stanley Cup winner.

More than 200 people were in attendance for the Canadian Forces Halifax Sports Recognition Awards Breakfast May 26, 2006. "This is the most important event that we [Formation Fitness and Sports] host," stated Mike Almond, Formation Fitness and Sports Director. "It is our opportunity to recognize the great achievements of our athletes and say thank you to our sports representatives."

He added that special appreciation is extended to commanding officers and sports patrons at each of the units. "Without their support, time and permission for the athletes to attend events, the sports program would not be as strong as it is." He added that the Canadian Forces Halifax PSP staff is to be commended for their hard work assisting with the event and "fine tuning all of the details."

Sports Coordinator for Stadplex Jeff Lauzier, was recognized as civilian coach of the year for men's volleyball.
