New CANEX Outlet Opens in Halifax

The new CANEX outlet in A Block had its official launch on Wednesday, May 10.
Base Commander Capt(N) Marc St-Jean cut the ribbon for the store's opening, and welcomed those in attendance.
Capt(N) St-Jean noted that the outlet's position next to the Tim Hortons gave it a significant advantage. "Location, location, location," he told the onlookers, adding that he hoped CANEX would see a strong surge in business.
Nalin Tulsiram, CANEX's National Manager Convenience Operations, stated that the previous location of the CANEX store, on the lower level of A Block, had some disadvantages.
"We decided that we wanted an environment that was more conducive to customers coming in. This space became available and being right next to Tim Hortons was a real plus for us."
The new CANEX outlet caters to people on base, providing some retail goods including the Navy and Army Roots® line of clothes, to some electronics items. There is a wide range of convenience products such as magazines, snack foods, toiletries, and DVDs for rental.
"Right now it's working very well for us," observed Tulsiram. "We expect to grow as people realize we are here and we are open."
The glass wall that separates CANEX from the Tim Hortons means greater visibility, he stated. "Having open access is key. The location is paramount to the business, and this location is perfect. We could not ask for a better place."
