Chief of the Defence Staff Distinguished Achievement Award

Mr. R. J. (Bob) Smith, Chief Financial Officer, is the recipient of the first annual Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Distinguished Achievement Award, presented by the CDS on the 13th of June 2006 at the DND Corporate Awards Ceremony.

Mr. Smith demonstrated consistent leadership and innovation throughout his service with the CFPSA. He was instrumental in the design and development of the highly successful CANEX Credit Plan and the Registered Education Savings Program for CF members. He has effectively managed the investment portfolio for the Canadian Forces Central Fund, which has consistently outperformed other fund indexes. Most recently, in developing and implementing the Canadian Defence Community Banking program, he has again contributed significantly to the quality of life of CF members and their families.

CDS Distinguished Achievement Award

The CDS Distinguished Achievement Award, created in January 2006, recognizes an individual from the Staff of the Non Public Funds, Canadian Forces, who has had a positive and substantial impact, directly or indirectly, on the Canadian Forces or the Canadian Forces Community, by:

a. displaying a high degree of innovation, creativity, perseverance or ingenuity in the design, development, and implementation of a program or initiative; and/or

b. reflecting exemplary credit on the CFPSA and its employees through leadership, commitment to service, enthusiasm, sustained performance, and continued professional development.

The CDS Distinguished Achievement Award is presented annually based on the fiscal year April to March. Nominations are to be submitted by 15 March of each year for the previous year. For more information, please visit the Rewards and Recognition page at www.cfpsa.com.
