Last Friday, January 13, was a day a celebration at the officers mess of the Saint-Jean Garrison. A group of about sixty people gathered to mark the retirement of their friend and colleague, Maurice Gauthier, NPF Accounting Supervisor, after 32 years of dedicated service. Some of those people wished to share memories and amusing stories involving our dear Maurice. So Mr. Michel Landry, NPF Regional Accounting Manager and supervisor of M. Gauthier; Mr. Yvan Beaupré, CFPSA Director Accounting and Payroll Services; Mr. Bob Smith, CFPSA Chief Financial Officer (CFO), as well as a few colleagues, took turns in humorously thanking the new retiree and presenting him with several gifts. He seemed to enjoy the attention just as much as the people gathered to bid him farewell.
Happy retirement Maurice! Enjoy it fully!

CEO Award of Exceptional Merit
An operational deployment is always a challenge, but the members of Op ATHENA ROTO 4 and Op ARCHER ROTO 0 faced an exceptional series of personal and logistical challenges. Tasked with moving welfare equipment from Kabul to Kandahar, while still maintaining services in both camps, the team showed such resourcefulness, dedication and enthusiasm, that they received the CEO Award of Exceptional Merit. Achieving a balance between meeting Camp Julien closure deadlines, while remaining focused on the welfare needs of soldiers in both Kabul and Kandahar, took dedication and professionalism. The high quality of service maintained during the transition period demonstrates their commitment to Serving Those Who Serve.

CANEX in Shilo, Manitoba got some great exposure after winning a coffee break with celebrities from the local Brandon radio station.
Two of the 38 CANEX employees entered the radio stations weekly contest, and on December 23, local celebrities Shotgun Maguire and Brianne Cancade joined the staff for some photos, chatting, coffee and cookies.
CANEX manager Rick Kehler was listening to the radio when they announced CANEX had won the FARM 101.1 weekly prize.
You could tell in his voice, he had no idea what, who, where CANEX was. Once the coffee break was over, he sure knew where we were, says Kehler.
With 2,400 residents, CFB Shilo is a town as well as a base. And everyone in Shilo and Brandon is familiar with the local radio station, so it was good exposure.
Its nice to have the local radio station put CFB Shilos CANEX on the map, says Kehler.
