In response to a survey of the military community in Montréal/Saint-Jean last winter regarding the possible acquisition of a pontoon boat, a 26-foot-long Versailles that comes equipped with a BBQ, a toilet, rollaway beds, a sound system, a tanning room, a change area, an ice box and a kitchenette was acquired earlier this summer. A camper top, a fish finder and a water skiing towing mast complete the equipment available on this boat that can carry 12 persons.

Not only has it been purchased and made its way up and down the Richelieu River, but this pontoon boat owned by the Sports and Recreation Plan (SRP) of the 5 ASG PSP has traveled countless kilometers. Though summer is already over and a few days of navigation still remain, this project can already be termed a resounding success!

When the boat was officially launched last July 5, it had already been reserved for 57 outings, and at this writing, 51 of the 61 scheduled outings had already been completed! Whether for a group outing, an office meeting, a family activity, a day camp activity, a fishing day or scuba diving training, the pontoon boat fully met the expectations of everyone who took her out.

It can be rented for $125 a day (users pay for the gasoline) by those in the military community who are members of the SRP.

The new PSP pontoon boat has covered many kilometers along the Richelieu River this summer, much to the pleasure of members of the military community in the Montreal/Saint-Jean region.
