On May 31 and June 1, the Valcartier Garrison welcomed the CEO of the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency, Major-General Doug Langton. His brief stay with us was part of a national and overseas tour he began when he took office in October 2004. It gave him an opportunity to visit various Canadian Forces facilities and to meet with people who make up the larger CFPSA and Non-Public Funds team.

“It is essential that I visit bases and squadrons and meet with employees, as it gives me a chance to ask them questions, answer theirs and attempt to gain a better understanding of what actually takes place in the field,” said the Major-General before leaving for the airport to take a return flight to Headquarters in Ottawa.

When asked about our facilities and the quality of services provided in Valcartier, MGen Langton said he was very impressed. “It’s a large garrison, where there are several activities and numerous people. Cooperation between garrison authorities, units and formations and our Agency’s staff appears to be excellent. Everyone is working together to support the troops and their families.”

In addition to going to a meet and greet on the evening of the 31st for all of the Non-Public Funds employees (Valcartier Garrison) attended by close to 150 persons and taking part the next day in the Gala du Lion d’Or (sports award ceremony) as a guest of honour, MGen Langton also had more official discussions with the Brigade Commander, the Deputy Commanding Officer of the 5 ASG and the PSP Manager. Following these discussions, MGen Langton expressed the view that CFPSA will have to make more effort to better define the organization’s identity and to increase its visibility.
