From Where I Sit...A Fond Farewell

October 6, 2003: The day I arrived at CFPSA to take on the Staff Officer’s mantle.

October 7, 2005: The day I (sadly) remove the mantle and pass it on. Such is the life of a typical military Staff Officer. Such is the life of every military member.

In the scheme of things, two years may seem like a long time to some people, but believe me, it’s a drop in the timeline bucket. I wouldn’t be honest if I didn’t say it’s been a roller-coaster ride, because there truly were some ups and downs. Mostly ups, I’m happy to say. I’d like to think that I was up to the challenge. And it was a challenge. Not because I hadn’t done this type of work before, it’s my bread and butter, but because I came in not speaking NPF. But from the first day I was made to feel very much a part of the CFPSA team. I still feel that way. People went out of their way to make me feel welcome, and to show me the light. I will always appreciate those people, the executives, managers, support and field staff who helped me navigate the mystery that is the world of NPF.

I leave CFPSA having learned so much, and having met so many dedicated people. It’s been an honour and a pleasure “Serving Those Who Serve.”
