Awards To Deployed

By Karine Vachon

Norma Woods Norma Woods

Norma Woods, Fitness Coordinator in charge of curriculum development at RMC Kingston is one of the pioneers of deployment operations. She has poured her entire heart and energy into the program by participating in no fewer than four deployment operations, during which she has served as Travel Manager, Operations Manager and Interim Welfare Manager. During the course of these missions, Norma became known for her long hours of hard work, her renewed enthusiasm and her unparalleled team spirit. It is therefore no surprise that both her civilian and military colleagues, who fully recognized her contributions and clearly shared in her joy, saw Norma receive a Commander’s Commendation from Col Semianiw last July 23 in Kabul. This very high distinction goes to civilians and military members in recognition of their exceptional efforts. Congratulations Norma!

Linda Beaudry Linda Beaudry

Linda Beaudry, Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice-President PSP, CFPSA HQ, was awarded the Commander’s Coin July 23 in recognition of her contribution as the Special Activities Coordinator and as Operations Manager during ROTO 3 of Op ATHENA. “The award was given to me in acknowledgment of my contribution to two specific events,” says Linda. That of the Show Tour and the Relay For Life which raised $22,000 for the fight against cancer. The TFK Commander’s Coin is an award that I share with the extremely dedicated ROTO 3 CFPSA professionals who came together as a team to make every day in theatre a special one for our serving military members. “The greater the loyalty of a group toward the group, the greater is the motivation among the members to achieve the goals of the group, and the greater the probability that the group will achieve its goals,” is a motto that Linda’s work reflected exceptionally well. Kudos Linda!

Perky Dupuis Perky Dupuis

Perky Dupuis, NPF Accounting Clerk at CFB Petawawa, received the Commander’s Coin for her distinguished service to CFPSA as the Billing Clerk for ROTO 3 of Op ATHENA. Her incomparable devotion to duty and her legendary joie de vivre made Perky an exemplary employee, whom everyone enjoys being around. “I was very surprised and overwhelmed that people I worked with for such a short time would recommend me for this award,” says Perky. “When my name was read I just couldn’t believe it. LCol Kennedy and RSM Traclet presented me with the coin on Aug. 29. When people ask me why I received this award, I always say ‘for doing my job,’ because all the things I did when I was in Kabul, I considered part of my job, whether helping someone at the store, taking over for someone when they were sick, or helping with events at the mess. These were things that had to be done, and I was happy to do them. I had a great tour and worked with a wonderful group of friends. It was an experience I will never forget.”
