Message from the CEO

As a new member of the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA), I have recently pored through agency materials and orientation videos. In doing so, I have been delighted to find that our agency values teamwork so greatly that we have entrenched this trait into our organization's list of core values.
I firmly believe that when great things happen, they are achieved not by a single person, but through the efforts of many. Recognizing this immutable fact, it is no surprise that we enhance the morale and welfare of Canadian Forces members and their families … by working together. I look forward to being part of that effort.
CFPSA is comprised of a competent team of experts, many of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting. I intend to tap into their expertise on a regular basis.

We all count on our colleagues to provide us with the information we need to make sound decisions. As team players, we can support our colleagues who require our assistance by being well versed in our areas of expertise, by presenting knowledgeable options and recommendations, and by offering seasoned opinions.
We also demonstrate a team player attitude by seeking the input of stakeholders. True, all the feedback we receive may not be acted on, yet allowing for consultation inevitably leads to a stronger end product. This participatory approach to decision making has served me well in my career and I encourage you to use it, if you don't already.
Assuming this “team” attitude and seeking the opinion, expertise and input of others, results in greater buy-in during the planning and implementation phases, and helps to identify potential pitfalls and deal with them before they even happen. Seeking input honours the expertise of others. Yes, it takes time. I believe it's time worth taking.
Teamwork requires good communication. If you have ideas that will help our team, share them with your colleagues and supervisor. I invite you to use this internal publication, Apropos, to connect with your colleagues, to share best practices and to offer feedback.
It gives me great pleasure to join the team of CFPSA, and I look forward to meeting many of you in my upcoming visits.
