After years of whispered rumours among golfers, curlers and Shilo residents alike, the doors are about to open on a $550,000 clubhouse at the Shilo Country Club.

Talk of a new clubhouse began in the late ‘70s, and continued through the years. But as the community grew and the clubhouse deteriorated, the need for a new facility became undeniable. After more than a year of careful planning and construction, this contemporary, full service facility is ready to meet the needs of a growing community.

“This new facility is a top-notch establishment that can easily compete with any high-end golf club in the area,” says Scott Ramsay, general manager. “It’s an extremely positive addition to the community.”

The new clubhouse boasts a full kitchen with an extensive menu, a large dining room facility, and service second to none. An outside patio area has been added, along with a new practice putting green. The clubhouse, along with serving the golf and curling membership, will be available for special events, corporate and charity tournaments and banquets.

“The new clubhouse definitely makes us a more viable option for golfers and curlers alike,” says Ramsay.

“We now can offer much more in terms of service and atmosphere to golfers, curlers and outside organizations looking for tournament facilities.”

In addition to serving golfers and curlers, the Shilo Country Club will be the only on-base, all ranks facility, giving military units somewhere to hold all-rank events and gatherings.

The Shilo Country Club was officially opened by Col M. McQuillan, Commander 1 ASG, on May 25 2004.
