State-of-the-art digital technology is replacing conventional presses, film and offset plate process at Print-X, CANEX's new printing operation.

CFPSA is the first unit in Ottawa to receive NexPress, a full colour digital press that will allow Print-X to produce digital projects quickly and efficiently. With the old equipment, customers had to wait days to even see the proofs. "It brings a range of benefits to customers. It's basically the newest, the latest, the greatest. It's the most advanced printing system out there and better enables us to meet customer needs. We now have the speed and flexibility of a digital system combined with the quality of a press, allowing our customers to consider the widest range of options for meeting their business challenges" says Dennis Roy, Multimedia Printing Services Manager.

The transition to digital allows clients to print exactly what they need, when they need it and make content amendments at any time. This increases efficiency and lowers costs in a number of ways. It reduces storage of large print runs, eliminating obsolescence and waste. Smaller batches make personalization and frequent revisions easier. Users can access Print-X via the Internet, uploading graphics and material online. Print-X offers full graphic arts services, including posters, brochures and booklets in colour and black and white. Other services available from Print-X online will include job estimating, pricing and ordering, automated tracking, billing and delivery worldwide.

NexPress is currently being installed in the new CFPSA Headquarters building. A website is under construction and colour digital production will be available in August. Meanwhile, Print-X services can be accessed via e-mail at Printx@cfpsa.com.
