Corina de Guire, associate publisher of Esquimalt’s Lookout newspaper, received a nomination in the Communications category from the Greater Victoria YM-YWCA’s Women of Distinction awards. The annual awards, held at YW-YMCA’s across Canada, recognize the talent, achievements and contributions to the community of outstanding women.

Under Corina's watch the Lookout grew from a cut and paste newsletter to an in-house digital production that has been voted Canada's premier base newspaper five times. And she helped Lookout Publishing evolve beyond the newspaper alone, to a full-service print and media operation. Corina's influence has also spread beyond CFB Esquimalt. She created the CF Newspaper Association, and helps deliver national-level public affairs courses for CF members. Corina is also a certified lay counselor with the international Hope Alive Group Therapy program.
