DVDs in the Jungle?
CF members watching DVDs in the jungle. |
By Brigitte Smiley
Op CROCODILE is a small, very remote operation where eight CF members live in bamboo huts with mud floors and thatch roofs in the middle of the Congolese jungle. With no electricity, no TV, no entertainment, no exercise facilities, and no communication with the outside world or home, morale can get pretty low.

Fortunately, they knew to contact Shirley Penny, Amenities Coordinator at CFPSA to ask if she could send them something to help ease their situation. What they received first were mini DVD players with a few DVD movies and every week since they have received the latest DVD releases, newspapers, and magazines. I watch a movie every night with at least one of my Canadian or British counterparts comments MWO Vic Hickey who is deployed there for six months. The DVDs are a great addition to the teams equipment added Maj David Marshal after a Staff Inspection Visit.
