Mr. Robert Trépanier
The Deputy Commander of the 5 ASG and the PSP Division of the CFPSA wish to inform you that Robert Trépanier resigned from his position as Fitness and Sports Director at the 5 ASG Valcartier on July 25, 2003.
He has held this position since April 1, 1997, i.e., since the first services were offered within the purview of the PSP in Valcartier. He was very active in the management of infrastructure recapitalization projects, as reflected by the quality of the athletic facilities and equipment. The Commanding Officer of the 5GSS issued a citation to Mr. Trépanier in recognition of his generous contribution to this effect.
Mr. Trépanier also actively participated in efforts to raise customer service standards. Moreover, he carefully planned work to meet the community's specific needs. Our members now enjoy a very diversified range of fitness and sports activities which meet their needs and promote health and wellness. He followed his entrepreneurial instincts and established the Lion d'Or ceremony held annually to recognize military athletes who have stood out in sports. In association with this initiative, he developed a partnership program with the sponsors, mainly to obtain financial support for the Lion d'Or ceremony, which has certainly caught on and is still today of great interest to Land Force Quebec Area athletes.
Mr. Trépanier also contributed to the development of women's hockey by organizing in Valcartier a portion of the training camp of Canadian women's ice hockey team, which later won a gold medal at the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City in February 2002.
Mr. Trépanier never hesitated to serve outside Valcartier's military community. He was active on the Quebec scene when he accepted the position of Director of Regional Sports for Quebec. In addition, as manager, he participated in the establishment of the first PSP personnel rotation in Bosnia. He attracted attention at that time through his contribution to the establishment of new service standards for the benefit of troops in the operational theatre.
As the Fitness and Sports Director, Mr. Trépanier undeniably contributed to the lasting development of PSP in Valcartier. In closing, we would like to wish him a very happy retirement and may he achieve success in all of his future projects.
