Meet the CFB Gagetown NPF team

Though the people that work for CFPSA/NPF at CFB Gagetown are unique and diverse, they all share one thing in common: a love for the work that they do. The work is not easy. Each day brings with it new challenges, difficulties, and obstacles to overcome. But, it is exactly these diverse challenges that the NPF staff thrives upon.

Richard Hartnett, PSP Manager
"At Gagetown, we count on the real meaning of teamwork to better serve our members. Recently, this teamwork was exhibited and celebrated through the combined efforts of PSP, SISIP, and MFRC at the Volunteer Appreciation Evening, which was a tremendous success. Our team is successful and will continue to stand united behind the motto of CFPSA, 'Serving Those Who Serve.'"

Wendy Stewart, Community Recreation Director
"I'm lucky enough to be in a position which allows me to deal one-on-one with our members. Special events such as expos, teen dances, youth camps, and day trips let us see firsthand the results of the service we're helping to provide. More and more, families are getting out and involved in recreation and in our community."

Steve Cymbaluk, Assistant Community Recreation Director
"Being new to the Recreation Cell, I'd have to say one of the biggest challenges to the job is how diverse it is. New and existing programs and services are continually underway, and providing quality programs to our members and their families is a very rewarding challenge."

Charles Brown, Mess Coordinator Maritime Jr Ranks Club Camp Gagetown
"It's great to be back in the military environment after a seven-year absence. I retired from the forces in 1996 after 31 years of service. I enjoy getting up in the mornings and coming to Camp Gagetown and to my work at D-22. It's great to be back here "Serving Those Who Serve," and I can honestly say that I love my job. I am fortunate that I have a great staff who have guided me with kid gloves from the start-much thanks goes to them."

Neil McKenzie, Health Promotion Director
"The Health Promotion mandate is very diverse and interesting. It is spread over eight disciplines or inter-links: fitness and active living, mental health, spiritual health, sexual health, weight wellness, nutritional health, addiction free living, and health families.
When you look at the complete package, we are facilitating or promoting happiness. What more can I say; it doesn't get any better than that!"

Vanessa Phillips, Health Promotion Manager
"Helping and educating people to better themselves is a great feeling. I thrive on the ongoing learning and challenges that the position offers because they have allowed me to meet and work with interesting and respectful people. The entire Health Promotion Program allows me to be myself and to grow as an individual, but more importantly, it gives me the opportunity to share all the good things in life with others."

Patty Piccard, Officers Mess Manager
"The hospitality industry is very demanding. No matter where you are, the challenges that appear every day keep things exciting and new. Working in the mess environment and being a part of the team that is serving our soldiers is very rewarding."

Ed MacDougall, Fitness and Sports Director
"I like working for PSP because of the people, the challenges, and the opportunities. Every day, there are new challenges, and that's the excitement of the job and satisfying the customers."

Ed Gulliver, CANEX Store Manager
"I like working at CANEX because even though we are a large company, it's operated a little like a family business: all decisions are a group effort. Also, the fellow CFPSA/NPF units on the base (especially in Gagetown) work very well together."

John Burke, WO & Sgt's Mess Manager
"Ever since the messes fell under the umbrella of PSP, there have been enormous changes in how we conduct business, and of course, all of them for the best. I really enjoy working in the mess environment. You meet new people, usually on a daily basis, as they clear in or out of the mess, attending functions, or just dropping by to see what's happening. It is so important today that soldiers and their families have an area of release from everyday pressures. There is a seemingly increased workload on our serving members, especially with all of the overseas commitments"

Lisa Lacroix, A/Human Resources Manager
"As acting HR Manager, I find I am enjoying the learning experience and challenges this job provides in all.aspects of HR. I enjoy meeting, talking with, and assisting new people in their search for employment. It is most gratifying to provide a helping hand to all CFPSA/NPF employers and employees with any questions, concerns, or challenges they may have. We are only a phone call away."

Leslie Davidson, A/Branch Manager and Financial Planner, SISIP Financial Services
"The greatest motivation that brings me to work each day is the genuine happiness and gratitude we receive from the clients for a job well done. Whether that help is in Insurance, Financial Planning, or Financial Counselling, we continue to exceed the expectations placed on us by the client. The CF community is comprised of men and women who take great pride in their work, and we take great pride in "Serving Those Who Serve." I feel very fortunate to be a part of such dedicated professionalism; I feel very fortunate to be a part of the Canadian Forces team."

Beth Corey, Executive Director Military Family Resource Centre
"The best part about working at the MFRC is diversity and variety. I enjoy working for a volunteer Board of Directors that represents the community. I love seeing and talking to the children and parents of our community. Seeing the smiles after a play group, or the child resting in Dad's arms leaving our child care centre at the end of the day, reassures me that we are making a difference. I really get excited about volunteers who are at our centre to learn a second language, develop a newsletter, facilitate a program, or work at making a difference in their lives and the community. I enjoy working with my staff in building and developing a complete program for the military community. What I like best is that each day includes a variety of all of these things."
