To kick off the Health Promotion (HP) year, the HP team in Europe held an Alzheimer's Coffee Break. The event took place over three mornings in what is known as the Tricommunity area, which includes the NATO Airbase at Geilenkirchen, the Canadian Forces Support Unit (Europe) at Niederheid in Germany, and the Detachment in Brunssum, Netherlands. John the Clockman, a local vendor, graciously donated a mantel clock that was raffled off. Bakers were recruited from the community and provided us with wonderful treats to have with our coffee. We had a great response from the Tricommunity area and raised EUR543 ($849.60 CDN). All money raised went to the Ontario chapter of the Alzheimer's Society to support programs and research.

Together, we raised $ 689.40 for this worthy cause and had a lot of fun and laughs.

Each of our Elves offered a different service to bid on, ranging from Taxi Services, to Singing Telegrams, to a ride on the Zamboni. Volunteers from the Base Fire Department and the Military Police also offered rides in their vehicles, pictures, and tours of their respective facilities.

We wish to thank all of our Special Elves for their time and effort, as well as Bleachers, CANEX retail store and ExpressMart, and ASU Toronto for their generous donations. We'd also like to thank the Warrants' & Sergeants' Mess for the preparation of goodies, all of which helped to make our special day a great success.
