Located at CFB Borden, the CFPSA Training Centre (CFPSATC) is a train-the-trainer institute designed to meet DND objectives for operational physical fitness, personal physical fitness and quality of life for CF members and dependants.

Officially launched in 1997, the CFPSATC is well known for maintaining high standards of instruction via the PSP Instructor Course (formerly known as Indoctrination or Orientation) and, for its training of CF members in the Basic Fitness Training Assistant course.

Graduates of CFPSATC courses are able and motivated, in conjunction with Base PSP services, to plan, administer and/or improve unit PT. Instructors use lectures, discussion, demonstrations, tours and practical exercises, such as the obstacle course, to teach the necessary skills and knowledge required for fitness training assistants.

The CFPSATC also offers the very popular Recreation Activity Leader and Hockey Officials courses, and an Advanced Fitness Training Assistant course is also in the works.

Editor’s Note: Dave Rothermund just accepted the position of National Sports Coordinator in Borden’s Buell gym and will be replaced by Maria Edwards.
