Marty Raymond, PSP Fitness and Sports Instructor at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa is one of 21 men and 21 women selected to participate in the Canadian version of “Fear Factor” to be aired in February 2004. Marty’s great physical shape and endurance assured his selection from a field of 200 people after rigorous fitness, aquatic and psychological tests. Working in a PSP gym, training for the fitness component will not be a problem and fortunately, the Canadian version of this series does not involve ingesting weird things. He might however, have to sit in a container filled with snakes for 10 minutes. “I am preparing myself for such psychological competitions by holding the snakes and spiders that my friend has in his pet shop,” says Marty with a big grin.

The series consists of seven episodes with a finale as the top performers battle for the "Fear Factor" champion title. The purse is $ 10,000.00 CDN for each episode plus a car for the finale. All episodes will be filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2003 and the producers explicitly requested that the participants not divulge the ending before the shows air in February 2004. I wonder if anyone who knows Marty will be able to tell if he wins! .
