Alla Ivask— New DMFS senior Manager, Policy and Program Development

Alla Ivask recently joined the Directorate Military Family Services (DMFS) in Ottawa as Senior Manager – Policy and Program Development. Alla comes to DMFS with significant experience in the sector and, most recently, with more than10 years of experience as the Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs. “Her expertise with this national organization, and the excellent work that they have created under her leadership, will undoubtedly serve us well as we continue to work together to move our program forward,” says Celine Thompson, Director DMFS.

Alla began her career in the not-for-profit sector quite accidentally. A Ph.D. candidate at McGill University in pursuit of a professional future in academia, she accepted a temporary position with an international immigrant settlement agency in New York City, providing interpretation and translation services. Four years later she became the agency's Deputy Director assuming responsibility for its immigrant settlement operations in the US, Canada and Europe. Eventually Alla made her way back to Canada, returned to university to pursue a diploma in business administration, and served as Executive Director of various not for-profit organizations in Saskatchewan, Quebec and Ontario. Most recently, Alla spent 11 years as Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs.
