The third and final implementation phase of the Centrepointe web site was completed in June 2003, making it a full-service, virtual Canadian Military Family Resource Centre (CMFRC) available to all Canadian Forces (CF) families moving to, living in and returning home from Europe.
All six European CMFRCs now have a web-presence to enhance and augment service delivery. Historically, CMFRCs have struggled to develop independent web sites. Staff turnover, obtaining or retaining the required skill set, staff-time for site update and maintenance and cost have hindered their foray into the technological world.
By providing a platform on the Centrepointe site, all six European Centres benefit from the technical support, content management and statistical software available from the Centrepointe team while freeing up financial and personnel resources to pursue other Information and Referral activities. Centres can maintain their personal identity while still providing a cost-effective, unified, professional site.
The site provides access to a wealth of information and on-line activities for family members of all ages. A content management system allows users to create and manage their own online photo albums, contribute personal stories or news and voice their opinions on a discussion forum. Whichever section of the site is visited, Centrepointe offers a new experience every time - via fresh information, exciting discussions and opportunities to share with others in similar situations.
