Morale And Fitness Combine For A Fun Time.

By Jeanie Heaning, Fitness Coordinator, CFPSA Bosnia

There are many ways of trying to keep morale up and physical fitness fun on a 6-month deployment to Bosnia.

For Op PALLADIUM Roto 11 members posted to Camp Black Bear (CBB), this came in the form of some friendly competition on the gym floor with a 134-day, 6-month long Ball Hockey League

Everyone was involved, Sergeant Eric Strong managed and developed a Web site with player, team, and referee statistics. The Camp Black Bear "Bosnia-in- Herzegovina" Ball Hockey League (CBBBiHL) weekly newsletter also circulated with plays of the week, player highlights and interviews, and league standings.

The CFPSA staff with Master of Ceremonies, Gord Wells, produced the final game played between the National Support Element (NSE) Transport Platoon "Coyotes" and the Military Police/National Command Element "Thunder Mutts". The players were introduced, the red carpet was rolled out (actually it was a plastic dining cloth but who's keeping track), and the NSE Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Peverley, was escorted out for the ceremony. The Thunder Mutts held their own through out the game, but it wasn't enough as the Coyotes won 6-4.

Overall, the final game was a fitting end to the CBBBiHL season with everyone in CBB pitching in to make sure that the memories of the last game remain indelible.
