The Valcartier Garrison Sports Center will not only provide a workout for your muscles, but for your eyes and ears too! This location's cardiovascular fitness room has recently been equipped with a Broadcast Vision audiovisual system.
A feasibility study was conducted in June 2002 to examine the possibility of installing a high-tech audiovisual system in the cardio room. The project's aim was to give users the opportunity to work out in the same relaxing atmosphere they would find in major sport training centers in North America.
The cardio room now boasts 10 TVs and each fitness machine is equipped with a receiver, allowing the user to listen to one of seven (7) television stations (LCN, RDS, TSN, RDI, CNN, Canal D and MusiquePlus) or one of two (2) radio stations (Galaxie Dance and RockAlternatif) available. Center managers chose these stations based on a user survey. To take advantage of this new feature, users need only bring their earphones. The project, funded by Non-Public Funds, cost $25,000.
