Centrepointe reaches out to UK families!

By Karen Dooks, Centrepointe Managing Editor, centrepointe@aixtra.de

The Military Family Services team in Europe is pleased to announce the recent expansion of the Centrepointe web site, a virtual Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC), to Canadian Forces families living in the United Kingdom. Since February 2003, all UK families have been able to access the site by requesting a user name and password at www.centrepointe-europe.ca.

The Centrepointe team believes that the benefits of the site to UK families go beyond access to detailed information about the particular area in which they live - an important factor for the site's other user groups. The real value and appeal is in 24-hour access to Military Family Service Programs (MFSP), the ability to freely and easily share experiences and information with each other, and the opportunities to participate in a wide range of interactive features.

Dora Masters, the UK Director of the Centrepointe Military Family Resource Centre, says this expansion will add an additional dimension of service delivery for the families living in the UK. "The services and resources available on the site will augment our existing program and serve to provide a link between our families and the rest of Europe," says Masters.

This development marks the second phase of a three-phase approach to Centrepointe's launch. The first phase took place in June 2002 with the introduction of the site to the Canadian Forces remote personnel families in continental Europe. The third and final phase is scheduled for Summer 2003 and involves the integration to the site's user base of all other CF families living in Europe.
