| Patt Devine and Nathalie Connolly display the cover illustration of Joey's Mom Goes Away, a children's book introduced to Military Family Resource Centres this summer. |
This past year, Nathalie Connolly, a DMFS Mission Information Line (MIL) Counsellor, wrote Joey's Mom Goes Away, a children's book that stems from the many experiences, issues, problems, and questions Nathalie has faced in her own life as a military spouse, day-care coordinator, pre-school teacher, and MIL counsellor. Illustrated by Patt Devine, Graphic Designer, the book is about Joey, a four-year-old beaver who finds out that his mother is leaving home for a long time to help a family member. "We hope that young children, ages three to six, whose parents are deployed will relate to Joey's experiences and enjoy doing activities with him," says Natalie.
