Canadian Forces Radio Television ( CFRT )
Those Canadian troops that served in Afghanistan earlier this year enjoyed Canadian Forces Radio and Television (CFRT), a service that provides deployed soldiers with both live and taped TV and radio programs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Four ground stations were set up: two in Kandahar, one with the Strategic Lines of Communication (SLOC), and one with the National Support Unit (NSU). HMCS ships serving in the area were also outfitted with the equipment necessary to receive the CFRT signal. What does this mean? While we were watching the hockey playoffs here in Canada, the troops in Kandahar were cheering on their favourite teams.
