Have you ever wondered where your hard earned money goes when you buy an item in a regular retail store? Ah heck, you figure that somebody must be buying a personal Porsche with the proceeds! The last thing you would guess is that it goes back to you, right? But for the Canadian Forces personnel who shop at CANEX, that’s exactly what happens – and CANEX has the figures to prove it.

Did you know that in the past year CANEX has given back to the Canadian Forces community $2.9 million dollars in profits? This money went to Base/Wing Funds for use towards various programs for you and your family to enjoy, right where you live. These programs include physical fitness, health promotion, family services, sports and recreation, youth initiatives, mess management and other programs created to enhance the quality of life of the Canadian Forces community.

If you want to know exactly how much was given to a particular Base/Wing, check out the new display outside each CANEX store. Each sign shows the exact dollar amount given by CANEX to enhance the Canadian Forces’ quality of life at that site. You can also go on the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency’s website at www.cfpsa.com where you will find a detailed breakdown of the distribution. While you are there, visit the whole website to see all of the programs and services that are available to you as a CF member and your family.

Next time you buy something from CANEX, you will have the peace of mind of knowing that there is something in it for you. It may not be a Porsche, but who needs a Porsche when you have health and happiness.
