From The President and Chief Executive Officer

President and Chief Executive Officer John Geci

During this time of barbecues and warm weather, our thoughts turn to taking well-deserved breaks. In spite of its rather slow coming, summer is finally here. With it arrives the gamut of seasonal activities and programs designed to meet the needs of our Canadian Forces clients. This is the season that many of our military families enjoy holidays.

Taking time to recharge those proverbial batteries is more than just a quaint expression to us at the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA/NPF). We recognize the importance of spending quality time with our families and friends. It also gives us a chance to reflect on the road ahead.

Our Directorate of Health Promotion and Human Performance tells us that attaining well-being is much more than just physical fitness. As important as that is, equally so is a healthy attitude and frame of mind; that is, maintaining perspective between all.aspects of our lives and enjoying the present while planning for the future.

Our programs and services reflect this attitude as they address the many needs of our Canadian military men and women, as well as their families. We promote a holistic approach, and view our clients as the multi-dimensional and unique individuals that they are.

At our conference in January, we committed to becoming "stress relievers," as stated by Donald Cooper, one of our keynote speakers. This, along with our three personal and professional objectives, motivated us to ponder and redirect our efforts in continuing to recognize the uniqueness of the individuals we serve.

Taking time for ourselves and our families ensures that we are refreshed, rejuvenated, and whole. Only in this state will we have the reserves necessary to continue offering excellent service.

Enjoy warm and comforting summer holidays. The fall is shaping up to be an exciting time for all CFPSA/NPF employees.

John F. Geci
