About PSP
The Personnel Support Programs (PSP) division of the CFPSA provides quality physical education, recreation, moral and family services to the Canadian Forces community. It's a mission that requires a lot of teamwork and commitment from PSP Division, Commands, Bases, Wings and Units. The programs and services developed and delivered by PSP division include sport, fitness and recreation programs available at Bases, Wings and Units across the country, in the U.S. and in Europe. Another key element to PSP service delivery is the relationship with the Military Family Resource Centres at CF locations. These Centres offer programs in the areas of information and referral; education and quality of life, prevention and intervention, children and youth and volunteer development.
To bring a bit of Canada and home to deployed forces PSP provides reading material, show tours, satellite radio and television programs from Canada, as well as Canadian and locally engaged civilian staff to administer travel, rest and recreation, warehouse and canteen services.
In the past three years, close to $162 million of public and non-public funds has been spent on construction or renovation to upgrade and improve PSP community facilities across Canada. These include gymnasiums, field houses and arenas, pools and community centres designed for the military community.
Funding for PSP programs and services come from a number of sources: the Department of National Defence (public funds), profits from CANEX retail operations and SISIP Financial Services (non-public funds) and from industry sponsors. There is a tremendous commitment to provide CF members and their families with a variety of quality programs and services to provide balance to the unique demands and diverse needs of life in a military environment.
